Katie Trauth Taylor, Ph.D., is CEO and Co-Founder of Narratize, the AI-powered Product Innovation Platform helping R&D teams bring products to market faster through structured knowledge management and AI-assisted communication.

Katie’s path to Narratize began with an unusual question: Why do some innovators consistently get their ideas funded, built, and launched—while equally brilliant peers watch their discoveries gather dust?

She spent eight years pursuing a Ph.D. in Rhetoric at Purdue University, studying how communities with strong communication frameworks achieve outsized impact. Then she took that research into the field, spending over a decade embedded with Fortune 500 innovation teams at Boeing, NASA, DuPont, Hershey, and dozens more. What she found was consistent: up to 70% of R&D time disappeared into documentation tasks, and breakthrough ideas routinely failed because teams couldn’t articulate their value to decision-makers.

Katie’s response was to pioneer Innovation Storytelling—narrative science for innovation—a research-backed methodology for structuring and optimizing how innovation teams communicate complex ideas. Her peer-reviewed research, published in Research-Technology Management (PDMA’s flagship journal), identified 30+ narrative frameworks that distinguish winning innovation pitches from failed ones. These frameworks now form the intelligence layer powering Narratize’s AI

Before Narratize, Katie founded Untold Content, a strategic consultancy serving Fortune 500 innovation teams, and led national strategic communications for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs during a period of crisis—coordinating messaging across 156 medical centers.

Her expertise has been recognized across industries. Katie was selected as one of eight original OpenAI Developer Ambassadors before ChatGPT launched. She was named Cincinnati Woman Tech Entrepreneur of the Year (2025) and received the Marketing Legend Award from the American Marketing Association alongside Mastercard’s CMO.

She has interviewed 100+ Chief Innovation Officers on her Untold Stories of Innovation podcast and speaks regularly at MIT, Comcast, Coca-Cola, and major industry conferences.

Katie holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University and an M.A. from the University of Cincinnati.
